The STAR Method

STAR helps structure behavioral answers so interviewers can assess your actual contribution and impact.

S - Situation: Set the context. What was the challenge or background?

T - Task: What was your specific responsibility or goal?

A - Action: What did YOU specifically do? Use "I", not "we".

R - Result: What happened? Include numbers if possible.

Example:

"Our checkout conversion was dropping 15% week-over-week (S). I was tasked with diagnosing the regression (T). I added event tracking, identified a broken payment gateway for Safari users, and deployed a hotfix within 6 hours (A). Conversion recovered fully and we added a cross-browser test to prevent recurrence (R)."

Tip: Prepare 5-6 STAR stories covering different competencies before your interview.
